Wallpaper Hanging Instructions
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE HANGING WALLCOVERING.
1. INSPECT EVERY ROLL To ensure consistency, all rolls must be from the same batch and checked for shade variation, faults, and overall condition before hanging. Please ensure there are enough rolls to complete the job. Examination prior to installation is the buyer’s responsibility. No claims can be accepted once wallcoverings have been cut and hung for faults that were visible beforehand. In the event of a complaint, quote the reference and batch number on this label. For a correct pattern match, it is essential that each drop starts from the same point. This design is a 52cm repeat pattern, read pasting and hanging for further instructions.
2. PREPARATION – Walls should be clean firm, dry and smooth. – Remove any old wallpaper and loose paint. – New plaster should be allowed to dry completely. – Roughen painted surfaces with sandpaper. – Scrape powdery or flaky areas and paint with suitably prepared size, allowing to dry completely. – Metallic effects can be damaged if high levels of alkaline are already present in the walls. Preparing the walls with an alkaline resistant primer should prevent any damage of this type. – Ensure the wall is an all-over light neutral colour with no highly contrasting areas. – For best results we recommend that walls are cross lined using a good quality lining paper and completely dried out before hanging the wallcovering.
3. PASTING & HANGING – For a correct pattern match, it is essential that each drop starts from the same point. As the design has a 52cm pattern repeat, lightly marking with pencil the back of the first panel every 52cm, on each side of the drop can help align subsequent drops accurately. No responsibility can be accepted for misalignment during installation. – This is a ‘paste the wall’ product. The decorator should paste the wall and not the back of the wallcovering. It is advisable that a professional decorator is used. – Apply a good quality, fungicide protected, medium ready-mixed paste. DO NOT USE SELF-MIX ADHESIVES. ALL PURPOSE AND HEAVY DUTY PASTES ARE NOT SUITABLE. – Paste should be evenly applied to the wall to hang 1 length at a time, to an area slightly wider than the width of the roll. – Butt joins and use a decorator’s brush to smooth down the wallcovering, working from the centre to the edges to express air bubbles. Avoid squeezing paste out of joins and ensure paste does not get onto the brush or roller. No paste should be allowed to come into contact with the surface and hands should be kept clean and dry whilst handling the wallcovering. – Paste will damage the surface. The company cannot accept responsibility for marks or damage caused by paste. Should any paste have been allowed to come in contact with the surface, it should be lightly sponged whilst still moist, using a clean damp sponge. – Trim top and bottom with a sharp knife or scissors. – Ensure wallcovering is firmly adhered as, in the event of fire, loose wallcoverings can contribute to the hazard. – After hanging 2 to 3 lengths, inspect the result to ensure that no shading or other faults are present. No claim for hanging costs can be accepted once more than 1 roll has been hung. This information has been supplied in good faith, but without guarantee. Site conditions are beyond our control. It is the responsibility of the buyer to ensure that the environment is suitable for the wallcovering. This wallpaper is spongeable which means that you can use a damp sponge & lightly remove splashes or dirt. DO NOT rub, use soapy water or detergents as this will damage the paper.
