About Rebecca Christian
At 40 years old I finally gave myself permission to call myself an artist, despite having used my illustration skills in every job I’ve held.
Identifying myself as an artist has been a huge step…
Initially I gained a degree in Scientific Illustration learning to paint detailed and scientifically accurate illustrations of wildlife. It was difficult to gain employment with such a specialist skill so I went on to train as a web designer and worked for over 20 years in the education sector, for Liverpool University & Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine.
This experience helped to combine my artistic and technology skills.
Following redundancy and with two young children I decided to trust in my own skill set and set up in business. I initially offered web design services for the first few years of trading until through a business program I was encouraged to follow my true passion and skill of being an illustrator.
I am passionate about creating artwork inspired by my love of wildlife and nature, then using it to create surface pattern designs for products.
Recent projects which made me a Northern Design Award Finalist include the UK Heritage Collection, taking the national flowers of England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland and creating a series of products including luxury fabrics and designer wallpaper
Other products include scarves, greeting cards and gifts.
Inspiration is taken from the beautiful surroundings of the nature reserves and stunning UK Sefton coastline.
I love to be commissioned and enjoy creating bespoke products, providing a unique special item which has a personal meaning.
Many items are made to order, high quality and sustainably sourced in the UK.
Rebecca also has a particular skill for medical illustration.
Get in touch with your next project whether it’s commissioning a bespoke product/illustration or looking to licence surface pattern designs. I’d love to hear from you. info@rebeccachristian.co.uk
